Cloud8 News: More Rules, Automation and MultiCloud Cost Control

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from working side-by-side with our customers, it’s that managing multi-cloud environments is an ever-evolving challenge. With each new need, each new insight, comes an opportunity to improve visibility, governance, and, of course, cloud cost optimization.

Over the past few weeks, the Cloud8 team has been diving deep to deliver a new wave of improvements — many of which were a direct result of feedback we received from you. Here’s a summary of the most important new features:

Best Practices

  • We’ve reached 990 unique rules , covering the four clouds we currently support.
  • We have improved the assessment of cost reduction potential , with more detailed and easily accessible numbers. Soon, more rules will have this calculation available in a visible way.
  • New “Backup” category , which allows you to audit and monitor backups in different scenarios: retention, jobs, failures and even BigQuery and Kubernetes backups .
  • Integration with CSPM tools , with automatic opening and closing of issues and customizable notifications.
  • Support for Microsoft Teams , allowing all notifications and customizations to be sent via this new channel.
  • Expanded support for ElastiCache , including migration suggestions between supported platforms with a focus on cost reduction.
  • First compliance rules for AWS Bedrock , anticipating new demands in AI environments.

Automations

  • ElastiCache : now supports reboot , upgrade , type downgrade and change in the number of nodes .
  • OCI Instance Nodepools : dynamically adjust the number of nodes.
  • OCI Autonomous DB : Turn instances on and off on demand.
  • Exadata : oCPU tuning improvements.
  • Azure WebApps : It is now possible to perform scheduled upgrades and downgrades , allowing, for example, to save up to 25% in costs by reducing profiles during late nights and weekends.

Costs and FinOps

  • New apportionment/chargeback rules , with more flexibility.
  • Expanded external integrations : Magalu, Atlas MongoDB, IBM Cloud, among others.
  • EKS Split Cost : Now with support for categories other than compute and integration with external tag repositories.
  • New Pivot Table : filters, advanced groupings, daily and weekly periodicity, inclusion of component IDs and more.
  • Exadata : cost breakdown by PDB.
  • Azure RI and Savings Plans : improvements in the calculation of amortization and coverage, now with greater precision on what was actually used.
  • New Component Analysis : New application allows you to investigate everything that was created within any time interval.
  • Huawei Cloud : Support new cost format.
  • Anomaly Analysis Profiles : More options to track what was found by rule type.
  • Untagged Resources : visual improvements, more tag cleaning rules, use of wildcards and generation of application reports.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reports : new templates with clearer and more visually organized information.

Marketplace

  • Now with a consolidated presence in the Azure Marketplace , with the possibility of creating private offers with payment in reais , facilitating the acquisition and billing process.

All of this comes with dozens of small adjustments, fixes and optimizations spread across all clouds and features.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and partners who continue to send us suggestions, feedback and ideas. This direct collaboration is what drives us to maintain the accelerated pace of evolution.

If you haven’t experienced all of this yet, get in touch with our team and find out how we can help your company spend less and better control your cloud environments .
