Password rotation is a security practice that involves periodically changing access credentials to reduce the risk of account compromise. Passwords exposed in breaches or obtained by attackers expire more quickly, making unauthorized access more difficult. In addition, regular password rotation prevents the prolonged use of weak or reused passwords.
Cloud8 does not proactively change passwords, but we can help you remember when it is time to change them.
Best Practices – Security Reminders #
You can use, within Best Practices, on the Cloud8 Panel, reminders to change credentials at the frequency you find convenient and appropriate.
- After logging into the Dashboard, click on the Best Practices tab in the top menu
- Search for the term “password“
- Check the details panel for related items such as the last password change
See an example below.

By clicking the gear icon for each rule, you can configure it however you want, such as determining the number of days after the last password change that you want to be notified by email.
Other rules that can be used #
- Users with unused console password
- Root Access Keys (use this rule with caution)
- Access Keys Last Used
- and several other security rules – we suggest exploring them according to your needs and use cases.
