Through the Cloud8 Platform, you can add missing TAGs in AWS directly from the Dashboard, in bulk, using CSV files. This makes it easier to complete missing TAGs and also to label components that do not support TAGs natively in AWS (for example: SES, CloudTrail, etc.), emulating this behavior only within our Platform.
NOTE : To use this feature, the credential used within our platform must contain the authorization to change TAGs in AWS. See how, in “Editing Tags” .
How to use #
- First, search for one or more TAGs that you want to investigate which components do not have them;
- Click “ Download ” to download the CSV with this search result;
- Open the CSV file in your preferred editor and fill in the missing columns. Important : you don’t need to fill in all the items – you can prioritize, as there is a ‘ costs ‘ column to help you;
- In the search results, components that do not support TAGs will also be displayed. When defining labels for these components, this will not be reflected in AWS because it does not support them, it will only appear in the Cloud8 datalake ;
- Save the file and click “ Upload ” returning to the Panel, indicating the newly edited CSV;
- You can choose whether you want the TAGs to be applied retroactively (for example: May/2023 to May/2024)
Extra tips: #
- We suggest separating it into 2 different CSVs: one with the component IDs and marking the retroactive one when uploading the file;
- A second file containing only the “ usagetype :” (components that do not support TAGs) and use the flag “ Apply indefinitely in the next months “. In this case, our Platform will automatically apply the defined labels to the products that do not support TAGs from now on.
