Using Cloud8 Insights

2 min read

Cloud8’s Insights Dashboard offers advanced consolidated and comparative cost visualization patterns across multi-cloud environments , encompassing multiple cloud service providers. This functionality is essential for cloud cost management , ensuring budget control, financial transparency, and rapid identification of cost optimization opportunities in cloud computing , supporting strategic decisions by the IT and FinOps teams.

The user will be able to make use of the following panels:

Monthly cost summary of all accounts #

This dashboard offers a comprehensive and consolidated overview of cloud costs by account and provider, allowing managers to continuously monitor the financial health of their cloud environment. It facilitates comparisons between providers, analysis of historical trends, and tracking of cost forecasts , supporting budget planning and preventing financial deviations throughout the month.

  • Consolidated costs from all providers
  • Detailed comparison between providers and accounts.
  • Cost estimates for the current month ( forecast )
  • Evolution of expenses over time

Data Transfer (Without CDN out) #

This dashboard presents a detailed analysis of cloud data transfer costs , excluding outbound traffic via CDN, allowing for a more accurate view of actual network consumption across services and regions. It is crucial for identifying bottlenecks, patterns of excessive usage, and architectures that generate high internal traffic costs.

  • Identifying network consumption patterns
  • Evaluation of communication between services and regions.
  • Detection of excesses or inefficient architectures.

This dashboard is extremely useful for optimizing cloud architecture and reducing data transfer costs , especially in distributed environments.

S3 – How are storage, data transfer, and requests allocated? #

This dashboard provides a complete breakdown of costs associated with Amazon S3 , allowing you to separately analyze storage, request, and data transfer expenses. It helps identify buckets with inadequate usage, excessive requests, or storage policies that can be adjusted to reduce costs without operational impact.

EC2 Hours – Distribution of computing hours #

This dashboard details the Amazon EC2 compute hours consumption , allowing you to analyze the number of hours used, the types of instances in use, and their distribution by family and size. With this information, you can identify overprovisioning , right sizing opportunities, and improvements in the efficiency of compute resource usage.

RDS Hours – how are the hours and types used distributed? #

It provides a clear view of the time consumed by Amazon RDS instances , highlighting the types of databases used and their distribution over time. This dashboard makes it easy to identify oversized databases, irregular usage patterns, and opportunities for cost optimization in managed databases .

EC2 Spot – How is SPOT usage going? #

This dashboard evaluates the adoption of EC2 Spot instances , allowing you to understand how they are being used in the environment’s workloads. It helps compare costs between Spot and On-Demand instances, identify compatible workloads, and maximize savings without compromising application stability.

  • Assess the level of adoption of Spot Instances.
  • Compare costs between hiring models.
  • Identify workloads eligible for Spot.

NAT Gateway – cost details #

This dashboard presents the costs associated with AWS NAT Gateway , one of the components that generates the most unexpected expenses in cloud architectures. It allows you to identify high traffic patterns, inefficient architectures, and redesign opportunities to significantly reduce network costs.

Lambda – cost details #

This provides a detailed analysis of AWS Lambda -related costs , considering executions, processing time, and invocation volume. This dashboard helps evaluate the efficiency of serverless functions and identify architectural or configuration adjustments to achieve the best cost-benefit ratio in serverless computing .

DynamoDB – cost details #

This dashboard displays the costs associated with Amazon DynamoDB , allowing you to analyze usage patterns, provisioned or on-demand capacity, and the financial impact of operations. It facilitates the identification of excessive access, inadequate configurations, and optimization opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs. It presents the costs related to Amazon DynamoDB to facilitate the identification of usage patterns.
