OpenAI Access Credential #
Step 1 – Generate an API Access Key #
OpenAI costs are configured using a restricted-permission API Key . To create one, visit the following link: https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/admin-keys
After that, in Admin Keys , click Create new Admin Key .

Name the Admin Key (we suggest Cloud8) and under Permissions select “ Restricted ”. Under Resources , select “ Read ” for Usage API Scope .

Then click Create admin key . Save the Admin Key in a safe place. It’s important to note that you won’t be able to view it again after clicking Done.

Step 2 – Configure the provider in Cloud8 #
Once you have the API Key created, access the Cloud8 platform. In the left-hand side menu, select ” Providers .” Click ” New ” and fill in the required fields with the data generated in the previous steps.
- Provider name : The name that will be used to identify the provider in Cloud8.
- Timezone : local time standard that will be used.
- Language : default language.
- Secret : secret key generated in Step 1 .
Finish by clicking Register .

NOTE: If there is no billing data in the account , the configuration will generate an error alert.

Setting up FinOps Analytics on Cloud8 #
FinOps Analytics configuration is done automatically through the API Key connection , which receives usage and cost data via API calls.
